Join Lee Community Gardens and One Tree Planted for a fun day of volunteering to celebrate Earth Month!
Where: Lee Community Gardens, High Street Lee, MA 01238
When: Saturday, April 22, 2023, 1am - 2:30pm EDT (3.5 hours)
Parking: Lot behind St. Mary's Church on Academy St.
Cost: Free, but reserve your spot!
Volunteers will be removing sod, and invasive weeds from the hell strips and composting them safely, or using them as fill-in deep raised beds in the community garden. Once the sod is removed, edging will be placed as necessary to keep the soil from washing away. Then plants and seeds will be placed, and a layer of wood chips will finally provide a mulch cover.
Please remember to wear:
- Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots with good traction.
- Long pants and long-sleeved shirts to protect your skin from scratches and insect bites.
- Layers of clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
- A hat or cap to protect your head and face from the sun.
- Gardening gloves
Please remember to bring:
- A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
- Sunscreen and bug spray
- Snacks if you're a snack-y person
- A positive attitude
- Spade or shovel
